The Johnstown Redevelopment Authority has been selected as a recipient of a 2026 AARP Community Challenge Grant, receiving $15,000 to support public space revitalization efforts in downtown Johnstown.
As part of AARP’s statewide investment of more than $180,000 in 14 Pennsylvania communities, the grant will help transform a vacant downtown lot into an accessible green space featuring seating and a small stage for community events, performances, and neighborhood gatherings.
The project is designed to create a welcoming space for residents of all ages, with a focus on improving accessibility, encouraging social connections, and enhancing the quality of life in downtown Johnstown.
The AARP Community Challenge program supports quick-action projects that make communities more livable, connected, and inclusive for older adults and residents of all ages.
