Demolishing former Sheesley Supply Co. Structures

Blighted Property in Hornerstown Set for Demolition:

The Cambria County Conservation and Recreation Authority (CCCRA) shared positive news about the long-neglected Sheesley Supply Co. site near the Jim Mayer Riverswalk Trail in Johnstown. Earthmovers Unlimited Inc. has been contracted by the Johnstown Redevelopment Authority to demolish the industrial structure and a steel quonset hut, with work expected to begin within 10 days. The $217,630 contract is supported by a $404,000 grant from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, aimed at both demolition and environmental cleanup. The site will be converted into green space.

Waterline Expansion for Fire Department Training Site:
Plans are underway to install a new waterline from Pine Street to the former Dynacom property, enhancing infrastructure near the trail. The Cambria Somerset Authority will supply the water, and contracts for the grant-funded project are expected to be awarded soon.

Ghost Town Trail Repairs Progressing:
Following damage from Hurricane Debby, repair efforts on the Ghost Town Trail between Ebensburg and Twin Rocks are advancing. Originally estimated at $400,000, the cost has risen to nearly $1 million. The CCCRA is working with state and federal emergency agencies to ensure reimbursement for the restoration.
